One of the easiest ways to hypnotize a person is to use the "progressive relaxation" technique.

1. Firstly have someone you're doing this to sit/lie downwards in a relaxing position.
2. After that talk to them slowly in a relaxing voice (this doesn’t have to be single unvaried tone).
3. Then say to them "Take a nice deep breath in, as you let it out, then close your eyes then you’ll begin to feel yourself starting to relax." (If for some reason their eyes are already closed, leave the eye closing out)
4. When that is done have your topic put their alertness on several different parts of their body and relax them. You can use words like "Now you will become aware of your arms... now relax your arms... let them grow more and more comfortable... let the muscles become loose and limp and even more relaxed". Repeat this type of instruction for all areas of the body.
5. After that add some more soothe to your words with a lot of encouraging reinforcements such as - "Yes that's correct, excellent, you're doing just well."
6. Also repeat if needed: This depends on the person you’re doing this to, so sometimes you may have to repeat the entire procedure a few times. The majority of people need this to be repeated 10 or 15 minutes after that it’s enough.
7. Finally you're ready to finish with the person just say "Now I'm going to count to ten, when I reach ten, your eyes will start to open and then you will feel so relaxed and re-energized". Then start to count up to ten very slowly making your voice gradually a bit by bit less calming and a more "alert" with each count. Then when you reach the number nine, if their eyes aren't open say “the next number I say your eyes will immediately open and you'll feel relaxed and refreshed. Ten, eyes open, feeling calm and invigorated."
